Typography in design<3

I found this advertisement for a Vodafone advertisement. This is the type of phone service i had when I was overseas so I actually saw a number of vodafone ads but none as eye catching as this. I picked it because we are really focusing on typography in advertising and i thought that this was a perfect example. Though I'm not sure what text style it is, the entire picture is made up of the same font just in different colors and directions. In my eyes, this ad is saying that you can use this phone service to do whatever you what to do and say what ever you want to say. While focusing on the company in Sydney. By using text as the visual make up of the picture its telling the viewer that they can talk more about all the things they did in Sydney, Australia.

Color in Design

Commercial products in this day and age need to find specific ways to identify and separate themselves from the other competitors. Often times one of the most effective ways to bring attention to your brand or company in advertisements is through the use of color. In this picture is an example of what I think is a really good use of color. Even though this ipod apple advertisement is only made up of basically three colors (for example yellow, black, and white) they are all bright and eye catching. The colors are more of a flat color of pink green and yellow so its not too bright but bright enough to catch someones attention. The use of the black person on the brighter background really helps contrast the two light and dark pallets but yet still brings focus to the actual point of the advertisement by using white to bring the last attention of your eye to the ipod/ product! I think that the colors are very effective as well because these bright colors to me, give me a sense of happiness which is what i would then associate with the Apple product. Also, the use of the black on the dancing people makes the viewer focus on that person and really absorb that this product can be a fun and useful product. Though they are simple colors they are all balanced equally on the advertisement as to allow your eye to really absorb everything the ad is trying to convey.

What is graphic design?!

Many people wonder what exactly is graphic design? What purpose does it serve in our everyday lives?

In my opinion, graphic design can be represented by a number of artistic and professional qualities, which focus on visual communication and presentation of an idea, product, or anything, to the public eye. Graphic design is a way of taking a product, for instance, and transforming that product into a visual aid for people to see. Through graphic design people can begin to recognize the product and associate specific qualities of graphic design, such as pictures, logos, symbols, etc., with the product or whatever is being used. Graphic design is a way to recognize and relate a symbol or idea to the people using visual aid which often times are stronger than words themselves. Also, in my opinion graphic design is much more than using just any old picture or symbol to help associate with a product, but it is also using computer abilities to change and enhance certain things graphics that couldn't be done by hand, and makes it more appealing for the eye to see. Graphic design is all around us in the world today no matter where one lives. Graphic design is the symbols for gas stations, such as citgo, or specific restaurants, such as jimmy johns, to the commercials you see on TV. Its found in posters, commercials, and dominates the Internet today. Either way, Graphic Design is a specific art and professional way of page lay outs and designs for visual communication which is taking over the world one design at a time.
